Lifesource Group
Elbow Room is a weekly program of virtual and community-based group outings that focus on making art and building community. Hosted by a team of 5 dedicated Lifesource Group providers, Elbow Room provides quality art materials and guidance in painting, drawing, textiles, digital media, music, creative writing, and more. Elbow Room community outings occur Monday-Friday from 10am-3pm, and our online zoom classes are from 4-6pm. Our outings are highly art focused, and our team works hard to create art studio space in the community, where clients can focus on developing their creative practice/identity and work on long-term projects and exhibition goals. We have developed strong community partnerships, and we aim to foster a sense of routine and focus for our group. Trimet LIFT rides can be scheduled to all Elbow Room community outings, and all community partners provide ADA accessible bathrooms. Clients pack a cold lunch and dress appropriately for art makinging, which can get messy!
A list of community partners includes:
The Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC)
The Portland Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA)
Oregon Society of Artists (OSA)
The Side Yard Annex Farm
The Headwaters Theater
The Hoffman Gallery at Lewis and Clark College
The Portland Art Museum
The Alberta Abbey
